Beth Livingston writes about the history of real places and people for children and adults. Her writing style is wholesome and based on Christian values. You will want to read Beth’s informative and engaging books on a lazy afternoon while enjoying your relaxing time drifting into another world.
Mysteries lie behind every garden gate. Growing up in Lewiston, NY, Beth naturally became curious about what might be behind many historic homes’ facades. One of her most treasured books is “The Red Brick School House, Small Town America 2, a novel of Lewiston, New York.”
Find out what inspired Beth Livingston to write about one of Lewiston’s most iconic landmarks. You’ll read stories about the old Lewiston Academy (where Academy Park is today), the eccentric Nina Starkweather, and several other real-life local characters.
Do you remember attending church as a child and making up a story or thinking something the minister said was odd? I remember thinking that trespassing was when my dad passed other cars on the highway. How silly some of these things are when you grow up.
Beth’s first published book was inspired in just such a way. The plot of “The Hideout” was dreamt up when she was only twelve years old, sitting in Sunday school, imagining what it would be like to live in a church.
Years later, after being married, she wrote “The Hideout,” which was published by Moody Press in 1983 and has since been revised and republished.
Beth is originally from Lewiston and now resides in Ohio.
