New Release, “Wishes” in a Fiery Blaze
Jennie Angell is an emerging New York City artist, and is proud to announce the release of her latest single, this coming May 9th, called “Wishes” in a Fiery Blaze.
“Wishes” is produced by Jeff Angell (ANGWA, Joel Nya, and Dante Hawkins), mixed by Reed Seely (Logic), and mastered by Alex Saltz (APS Mastering).
Jennie Angell is a singer-songwriter whose music harkens back to another era with haunting, transcendent melodies and lyricism. The themes she covers are deeply personal and also a window into the spiritual world around her.
A New Love Song
The song opens with soft, heartfelt vocals delicately painted against a synth backdrop. As Jennie describes it,
“Wishes is my true love story told through the changing seasons.” Jennie Angell
“Wishes” marks a turn both in Jennie’s musical career and personal life. Full of hopeful romantic vibes, the song chronicles Jennie’s love story with her partner, producer, and bandmate Jeff Angell and, consequently, is the first song she is releasing under her new artist and personal name, “Angell.” Boldly vulnerable in its declarations of wishes for each season of the relationship, the song “Wishes” has already received attention in 2024 in the vows section of the New York Times with an article entitled, “They Sang Their Way Into Each Other’s Hearts!”
Each verse of “Wishes” expresses a new season and a new wish. The music mirrors this epic romantic journey with sweeping strings and pedal-steel flourishes as Jennie’s voice begins to build and soar.
The Lantern
One verse was inspired when she released a lantern into a moonlit night sky
While walking on a Delaware Beach Boardwalk.
…a silent wish from the depths of her heart.
She made a wish about her relationship with Jeff Angell,
A wish destined to come true!
When you listen to her new song, “Wishes,” you will be carried by her voice, lifting your own burning desires with the ones expressed in the song… you’re together with her as she releases each wish into the air.
“Wishes” in a Fiery Blaze begins with looming heartache. Yet, like the river described in each chorus, it refuses to stay in one place.
The story begins with a breakup…
Jennie’s daydreaming desire is expressed in the whimsical lyric,
“The dandelion petals told me,
That I would see your face again.”
“Wishes”, as with all good love tales, may be dreamy and lulling at times, but there’s always an exciting twist or fiery turn… which shifts us into a new perspective.

Jennie Angell’s first single, “I Can’t Breathe”, was written for the Black Lives Matter movement. She released a self-titled EP (under her maiden name, “Jennie Thomas”) in October 2022. It was recorded and mixed at Germano Studios, the Hit Factory NYC.
In 2025, Jennie was featured in the Music on the Inside (MOTI) Band at the Newport Jazz Festival and Montclair Jazz Festival.
