My Story Studio

When you begin a new project, it can seem daunting. I decided to start a YouTube Channel; I had tried before, but it seemed so difficult.

I started a “talking head” channel. I wrote scripts and even used some blog material from Astoria Magazine. It was a good start, but I found it hard to keep it up. I am always busy doing something.

Then, I thought this would be a good way to tell stories and do illustrations in real time. Most of the time now, I am working on art projects, and recording the process seems like getting two or even three things done at the same time.

Of course, it took a learning curve to manage microphones. And Zoom kept giving me a problem by showing up with black boxes while I was recording. It was frustrating. But I persevered and have now completed a whole book of illustrations while demonstrating the process online. It is actually fun now, though I still get busy doing other things.

If you would like to watch, some people just listen to me hum or sing while I work, and others just want to watch the art process for something calming to do.

The finished story, “Abby Finds Her Happy Place, a story of faith, hope, and resilience,” is now available to listen to. Click the link.

The Story Reading of the whole book is appropriate for children, youth, and all age groups. The video episodes on creating the book offer a look into the process of illustrating in Photoshop for various spreads.

Welcome to my channel, Friends. I hope you will enjoy watching as much as I enjoyed creating the Story Studio. Come sit beside me. There’s always a new story waiting to begin.
